In less than a month, we have witnessed the only two free and fair elections in Arab history. One was under Israeli "occupation" and the other under American "occupation." Perhaps this is an interesting fact for some in the media to analyze. Nevertheless, Iraqis voted yesterday in numbers that should quiet any critics who might question the legitimacy of the election.

I believe the actual final tally will be much higher than 70%. Have you heard the percentage of Iraqi ex-pats? I heard in America, the percentage was a whopping 97%. Any actual numbers yet?

The latest numbers being touted on Fox are around 60 percent of the Iraqi population eligible to vote that actually did. If you subtract those that were actively boycotting the election, namely the majority of the Sunni population, the percentage turnout was over 74 percent. But even at 60 percent it rivals US voter turnout in most elections. For example, Clinton never got close to 60 percent turnout.

"...that should quiet any critics who might question the legitimacy of the election."
Not even close. One look over at DemocratUnderground will show you that they have been calling this an illegitimate election since the polls opened. They are doing nothing but complaining about the "White House run media" and how they know that Iraqis know this election is a sham and they are being forced to vote by the American soldiers "at the tip of a gun" and "elections mean nothing, the place is still a mess and these people can't rule themselves, they are all just puppets of 'shrub'".
It's really pathetic. Not surprising though.

It's really pathetic.
It is, but there is some positive to it. What I am talking about is that as the libs continue to behave in such an irrational way and continue to show their true colors, their numbers continue to dwindle. Just look at what Mickey Kaus, a lib and Democrat, says about Kennedy, for instance:
It seems insane for Senator Ted Kennedy to give a high profile speech, three days before the Iraq election, publicly declaring the administration's Iraq policy a "catastrophic failure" and a "disaster." Even if that's what Kennedy thought, why would he put himself in the position where a successful election could make him look at least temporarily like a fool (as, apparently, it has)

Oh, and I forgot, Kaus had this to say about J. Fraud Kerry:
And why would John Kerry go on Meet the Press even after the election's success was obvious and offer only the most grudging, complaint-drenched words of praise. ("It is significant that there is a vote in Iraq. But ...) Kerry's pathetic, but is he that pathetic?
This is good news for conservatives and Republicans everywhere. The donks are really self-destructing - they're drowning in their own bile.

("It is significant that there is a vote in Iraq. But ...)
There's that "BUT" again. The guy can't say anything without qualifying it. Geez, I wish he'd SHUT UP! Thank GOD he's not our 44th President.
