Republicans Introduce Voter ID BIll In Wisconsin

I'd like to see this kind of legislation nationwide...

Fueled by reports of voting irregularities in Milwaukee, a move to tighten voter registration guidelines is gathering steam in the Capitol, where lawmakers on Monday introduced a bill that would require voters to present a photo ID at the polls.

Also, a key oversight committee plans to examine voter address verification practices that Milwaukee used during the Nov. 2 election.

The voter ID legislation, which Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Greendale) and Sen. Joe Leibham (R-Sheboygan) introduced, is similar to a bill that Gov. Jim Doyle vetoed in 2003. The two lawmakers said the measure is a "reasonable and sensible" approach to correcting some of the problems that emerged in Milwaukee and that rattle residents' faith in the system.

This is common sense legislation...

This is only a start. An even better reform would be to end same-day registration like the Wisconsin GOP proposes. But let's see if Stone's and Leibham's bill can get passed a Gov. Jim Doyle veto.

It makes so much sense it'll never pass. (As much as I'd like it to.)

You can bet that the Donks would call it voter intimidation, or invasion of privacy or something off the tired list of objections. But the real reason is that an avenue of voter fraud is cut off. They'll have to manufacture fake IDs. That will cost money, poor losers.
