U. of Colorado's Embarrassment Continues

Ward Churchill has now moved on from academic fraud, resume falsification, gross ineptitude and incitement to terror to assault and copyright infringement. Hopefully, some responsible adult supervision will assert itself in Boulder and realize that, even aside from his inane pabulum about American foreign policy, there are other perfectly legitmate reasons to fire this embarrassment.

As a Colorado native, I can tell you that the likelihood of that happening in Boulder is to expect a dinosaur egg to appear in your living room by chance. Boulder makes Los Angeles and New York City look like borderline right winger bastions.

Dagney is correct. Boulder is known around here (the saner part of Colorado) as The Peoples' Republic of Boulder. Back in the hippie days, it was "Berkeley by the Flatirons"--a reference to the large rock formations at the edge of town. In 1969, I think it was, CU hosted the national SDS convention, with keynote speaker Bernadine Dorhn. In Boulder, you do not 'own' a pet these days---I believe pets are 'animal companions' or people are "companion guardians' or some such drivel. It goes on and on.

Which makes it even more impressive that even many Boulderites have stood up on their Birkenstocks and spoken out against Churchill. Not enough, but even many liberals are disgusted by his hate speech, his incitement to violence, and his plagerism. But what is likely to bring him down in the liberal circles is his fake claims to Native American ancestry. After all, he is just another white man stealing from the red man---in this case, stealing a job that should have gone to a real Native American. Even the left is going to have trouble excusing that.
