As this transcript from a "Fox News Sunday" interview by Chris Wallace of Nancy Pelosi indicates, Democrats have no plans to reform Social Security and even deny there is a problem. The Democrats' problem, of course, is that the only way to make Social Security work without (a) cutting benefits or (b) shifting from the current defined-benefit method (Ponzi scheme) to a defined-contribution plan (personal accounts) is to raise taxes. Rather than admit that's what they prefer, the Democrats say nothing. America could use a hearty debate, but all we're getting from the left is "no" to everything.
The Donks are really caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place on SS reform. One of the main reasons they are resisting with such a vengeance is that they don't want their most sacred program to be fixed by a Republican. They are hoping to stall until they're back in power, but one of the things standing in the way of them regaining power is the way they are lying and obfuscating the facts about SS reform. The very people whose votes the Donks need to regain power are the younger voters who are most in favor of PRA's as part of any SS overhaul. These are the same people that Democrats lied through their teeth to about the Draft last fall, and I think a lot of them realize that they're being lied to again. I tell you, it just warms my heart.

Agreed. This is just one more issue that will result in the further marginalization of the donks. I don't know who is giving them political advice, but we need to support that person or group because they are doing a great job.
Now if we can get some Republicans to grow a spine, we might get something done...
