John McCain's Odd Friends

Looking forward to 2008, it seems clear that Senator John McCain is at least entertaining the idea of making another run for the White House. Given this, it is everyone's interest to keep tabs on what Senator McCain does, or what is done around him. Captain's Quarters has uncovered a rather interesting fact about Senator McCain's chief political advisor:

CQ reader TR points me to a breaking news item from the AP that alleges a conflict of interest for Senator John McCain. After a non-profit group closely associated with McCain and which pays a six-figure salary to one of his aides received $200,000 in donations from Cablevision, McCain wrote a letter of support to the FCC pushing Cablevision's regulatory positions...

...Cablevision made two $100,000 donations to The Reform Institute in 2003 and 2004. The Reform Institute employs Rick Davis, who also works on McCain's staff as his chief political advisor, and they pay him $110,000 per year.

As CQ points out, there's something a bit outrageous that the man who brought us the unconstitutional CFR (ostensibly designed to eliminate big money from politics) should have an aide employed an an institution which gets money from an entity which has official business before the Senate. But this is not really the part that worries me. This is:

OSI and its Constitution and Legal Policy Program also gives big bucks to Rick Davis and the RI. Guess who funds OSI? George Soros.

We didn't just wade through and ocean of Democratic/leftwing lies to find ourselves possibly in 2008 supporting a man who's chief political advisor thinks its ok to be anywhere within a thousand miles of the money of a vile man like George Soros.

Given the heavily inter-connected nature of politics and money in DC politics, it could very well be that McCain, and even Rick Davis, just don't know where all the money is coming from, and who else is benefiting from it. Still, this needs to be clarified - and if the story bears out (that Rick Davis is involved with varied anti-American and anti-Republican groups), then McCain will have to toss aside Mr. Davis, or forfeit any chance of GOP support for a Presidential run in 2008. The stakes are just too high to have anyone who isn't Simon pure vis a vis the leftwing.

And let's not forget how John McCain, because of a personal vendetta against the Air Force, has held up the promotions of officers serving in Iraq, and is refusing to permit the Air Force to replace Eisenhower-Era aerial refueling tankers with new aircraft. Apparently, Senator McCain's massive ego is far more important than the safety and success of our troops.

I've said it before, McCain is a snake. He's as phony as Kerry was (at least.) We knew Kerry and the other donk candidates were a bunch of flaming liberals because they made little effort to hid it from us. McCain on the other hand continues to masquerade as a conservative when all the while he's just as liberal (and crooked) as the donks. One of the top priorities of the moonbat central organization Moveon.org is "campaign finance reform." Any idea whose baby that is?????
