Gov. Jon Huntsman on Tuesday signed a bill replacing regular Utah driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants with driving privilege cards that can't be used as official identification to board airplanes or register to vote. The move comes a day after hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest the bill, arguing that the cards amount to second-class status for minorities.
I hope Congress and President Bush follow suit...
The move comes a day after hundreds of demonstrators gathered to protest the bill, arguing that the cards amount to second-class status for minorities.Undocumented workers, who are here illegally, are now being called undocumented workers, instead of illegal aliens. The fact that they are here illegally, makes them by definition not the same as you and me. So, why should we be in the same class of citizens. I applaud the move. It is about time.

4 years ago you hardly seen a Mexican around. Now you can give directions to about any place by using Mesican restaurants as markers.
need to get to the hospital? sure I can help you with that. Go 2 miles until you pass the Cancun's restuaruant, make a left and go to you see the Acapulco Mexican restaurant. Turn left again till you see the 2nd Pablo's, turn right and the hospital is right there. Make sure you do not turn at the 1st Pablo' or you will end upon a dead end.

This move is very similar to the things proposed by Gov. Shwarzenneggre and President Bush, from what i gather at least, and is a definate move in the right direction.

I'm inclined to agree with that, but isn't it outside of Congress' authority to mandate such changes to State ID cards. (One of those State vs. Federal power issues).
And if they're called "undocumented workers" how could they have documents in the first place?

Wow. You come here illegally, and you don't get the same rights as those who belong here. Makes sense to me.
