Terri Schiavo Has Died

Via FOX News:

Terri Schiavo died Thursday morning around 10 a.m. EST after her parents had plead with her husband Michael Schiavo to allow them to be at their brain-damaged daughter's bedside in her final hours, a spokesman for the family said.

Schiavo died heading into her 14th day without food and water amid what could be the final legal setback for her parents after the U.S. Supreme Court refused again to hear their plea to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube.

UPDATE: Statement from Tom DeLay:

"Mrs. Schiavo's death is a moral poverty and a legal tragedy. This loss happened because our legal system did not protect the people who need protection most, and that will change. The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today. Today we grieve, we pray, and we hope to God this fate never befalls another. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Schindlers and with Terri Schiavo's friends in this time of deep sorrow."

What happened to her, could happen to anyone -if liberals get to decide. I guess I need a living will.

Terri's death must not be in vain. I grieve for her and her family. It was as if she was in a judicial pinball machine bouncing from one blockcade to another. Even when the good members of Congress stepped in to give full legal recourse, the runaway judicial system threw off the law intended to bring her justice by trial de novo. Terri never had a chance. She never had her day in court. She was locked in a judicial pinball machine.

I am appalled that Michael Schiavo did not allow her parents with her in her final moments. Most abusers like him demonstrate similar calculated cruelty.
