Pots, Kettles and Glass Houses

Democratic behavior related to the well-orchestrated smear campaign against Tom DeLay by cooperating media and liberal activist groups is now at the hypocrisy stage. As noted on this site here and here, many Democrats have engaged in exactly the same behavior of which they accuse DeLay. With pots calling kettles black and people in glass houses throwing stones, this is a mixed metaphor paradise.

Bernie Sanders, the Vermont House member, is one of the politicians who paid his family members with campaign money. This is completely legal and disclosed. However, the publication of this information in the media, rather than keeping it in the shadows of government files, seems to have rankled the gentleman from Vermont. A local newspaper notes Sanders' reaction, which is - predictably - outrage and calling the revelations lies. Of course, the fact that his staff confirmed the information and that the data come from public records really means that the outrage is his tantrum.

Perhaps the DeLay character assasination attempt has a silver lining: it may shed light on many legal, though ethically questionable, practices committed by both parties. If this can clean up the system a bit, it would be a good thing.
