Feinstein: No R&D on Weapons That Might Kill Enemies

Nuclear proliferation is a serious threat to American national security. As a last resort, the U.S. might one day have to use its own nuclear weapon to eliminate the capability of an enemy to attack us with one of its own. Thus far, research indicates that for a pre-emptive strike to be effective, we might have to use a weapon big enough to also cause civilian casualties. Therefore, Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein says research should be terminated.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said the study confirms that nuclear bunker busters cannot dig deep enough to prevent large casualties.

"The bottom line is that it would result in the deaths of up to a million people or more if used in densely populated areas," she said in a statement. "This is the clearest evidence to date that our nation should not pursue the research and development of these weapons."

Not even research? Sen. Feinstein has demonstrated that she is more worried about enemy casualties than American casualties.

Much worse than the obvious ignorance needed to produce such a ridiculous statement on the part of the OTHER flake from CA, and even worse than the Luddite mentality of eschewing science and research is what it hidden in her motivation.

First you must understand that in order for her statement to have any credibility, you must believe that a President (it couldn't be Bush, he'll be out of office before this weapon is available) would knowingly order a weapon used that would kill millions of innocent civilians. That's just not going to happen and she knows it.

Second, these dangerous dictatorships like Saddam Hussein's Iraq, Iran, North Korea and others have been learning that you must go deeper and deeper and harden your command and control systems to survive for more than a few seconds if you decide to take on the US military. They are not the least bit afraid to spend the entire wealth of their nations to build these underground bunkers to protect themselves and their military control centers - even if it means starving their own people to do it.

As a result, we must continue to develop more sophisticated and powerful weapons to reach them deep underground. Failure to do that means that the regime and its military structure stays in control longer, issuing orders and controlling the military actions longer, and those two things result in more American casualties. A refusal to support the technology which could defeat the enemy command and control systems quickly is a refusal to do everything possible to protect the lives of American fighting men and women.

Since Feinstein is a typical left wing nut case, it does not surprise me that she would come down on the side of our enemies and against our own troops. Whenever you hear a donk say they support the troops - think of these kinds of ACTUAL proof that they really don't. About the only thing positive you can say about Feinstein is that she is better than Boxer - but then so is a 30 lb. bag of lawn fertilizer.

OK, Scaramonga, we are finally at odds. Feinstein and Boxer are both exactly the same as a much larger bag of lawn fertilizer---but in its natural, unprocessed, state, fresh from the cow.

Dianne needs to get out a map and take a look at just which areas of the U.S. are most likely to be hit if anyone does loft a nuke or two our way. Looks like blue states to me, Dianne. Those cunning little blue parentheses on the East and (gasp!) West Coasts are not only easiest to get to, they have the largest populations. Like all Dems, there is only concern when they themselves have something to lose, so Dianne might take a second look at the fact that a nuclear attack from abroad would not only kill millions upon millions of Americans, it would also pretty much wipe out the Democratic base, leaving the heartland and those pesky conservatives relatively untouched.
