I just called Harry Reid's office. He's the Democratic leader in the Senate. I asked if there was a Democratic plan for Social Security. The aide said Reid is against President Bush's plan. I said I was aware what Reid was against but was interested in what he was for. This question completely flustered the aide. She alternated between saying that there was no problem, that she did not know where the Democratic plan was, that I was wrong to say that the Democrats had no plan even though an aide in the Leader's office wasn't aware of one, and that Reid opposed President Bush's plan (that was the most frequently mentioned part of the Democratic position).
It is painfully clear - the Democrats have no plan for Social Security (other than to do nothing).
For fun, call his office (202-224-3542) and ask where you can find the Democratic plan for Social Security. The girl who answers is sweet, and I feel bad for her that she is put into the position of evading on behalf of her cowardly superiors. But until these Democrats feel the heat of Americans demanding to know where the Democratic plan is, they will continue to get away with not having one and just attacking the President.
Just called Reid's office - got the same response sort of. She started off saying that she didn't know of any Democrat plan and then as I pressed, she asked who my Senators were. I responded that they were both lazy Democrats and I wanted to know from their leader where the plan was. She then said she was not privileged to have access to that information. Then I was placed on hold for about 5 minutes. Next came another flack catcher who started ragging on Republicans. After repeatedly asking for anyplace I could look at their plan, he told me that I was rude, and that he didn't want to talk to me anymore.
No plan. No clue. No answers at all. And this from Reid's office. Sad, just sad.

Next I called Debbie Stabenow's office in DC. They told me to go to her web site. I said, "I did, and there is no plan there." She then said she would have someone send me a written response in a few days to which I said "I don't want a written response, I just want to know where I can go to see the Democrat plan." Her reply was, "I don't know." To which I said, "In other words, there is no plan?" To which she said, "I guess not."
Carl Levin's office just sends you to voice mail 'cause apparently they don't want to deal with it.

If you know Dems have no plan, why harass the poor girl?

If you know Dems have no plan, why harass the poor girl?
Well, maybe its because she's answering the phones (i.e. works for) elected officials who are supposed to have answers to those questions. Maybe because she tried to lie her way out of the situation first. Maybe because if she can't stand to deal with the public who likely call all day long with complaints and such that she'd be better off flipping burgers.
I like the way you call making a phone call to a senator's office and asking a simple question "harassing." If I wanted to harass the "poor girl" (never mind your sexist comment) I would have left her in tears.

Harrassing? LOL Why not ask the following question instead:
If the Dems have no plan, why must they harass the President for proposing one?"

Scar, Todd, why are you "harassing" student? LOL
Good job, calling and getting exactly what you expected from these donk leaders.
If you troll lefty blogs, you'll see them praising Dingy Harry Reid and licking their chops about '06. For what? For nuthin, if ya ask me...

Where are the gop commercials with quotes from dem leaders saying "there is no social security crisis"? they have all made the ridiculous statements, time to make them pay for it. Also i don't know why the talking heads on tv don't simply ask over and over what the dem plan is? beat this like a dead horse for christ sakes. Saying bush's plan sucks is not plan.

"Where are the [GOP] commercials..."
Exactly, Rich. Commercials, conservative TV pundits, anyone in the public eye need to start hammering the Democrats and holding them accountable for their words. Maybe they are waiting until the 2006 Campaign. But it would help move the President's Social Security plan along if we could bury the Democrats now. As it stands, the GOP is allowing the MSM to spin everything. If every GOP Senator and conservative pundit would carry 2 talking points into every subsequent interview from here on out, the MSM would not be able to ignore them:
(1) Democrats have repeatedly said there was no crisis in Social Security. They have been proven wrong.
(2) Democrats criticize the President's plan, but do not have a plan of their own. Do you (liberal TV pundit) know what is the Democrat's plan for Social Security now that they have admitted that Social Security needs to be fixed?
