There's a pretty lengthy interview with Senator John Thune in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Interestingly enough, he doesn't address John Bolton at all. He was, however, asked about the recent "cave-in" of the notorious seven:
[Argus Leader] Did your colleagues betray the cause Monday with the compromise on filibusters?[Thune] It's the way of the Senate. You've got a balance of power that's kind of narrow, and they came together. I applaud some of their work. We got votes on Judges Owen, Brown and Pryor. They blocked Judge Owen for four years. Then in a 24-hour period, she became an acceptable nominee. I think that's stunning. We have a problem confirming judges in this country. The agreement does not address the longer-term problem. It buys some time. It's a short-term fix that could all blow up when we get to the first vacancy on the Supreme Court.
Read the whole interview.
HAT TIP: Radioactive Chief, who is holding down the conservative blogging fort in my old "stomping grounds" of South Dakota.
The more I read about Thune, the less I like him. Pals with Obama? Buds with the Hildebeast? Against Bolton? What's to like about this guy?
