Republican Rep. Katherine Harris, who as Florida's secretary of state was both praised and vilified for her part in the 2000 presidential recount, said Tuesday she will run for the Senate next year against Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson. Her announcement brings a major name to the race, along with the potential to raise a lot of money.
"The time has come to launch a campaign for the U.S. Senate," Harris told The Associated Press.
The Democrats hate this woman. I think I'll be donating to her campaign!
I think this one is winnable. Nelson only got 51% of the vote in 2000 against someone with a whole lot less name recognition. Sure, the democrats hate her, but I would bet that the ones who do are those that wouldn't switch their votes no matter who the Republican candidate was, so it's not much of a problem, if any.

Harris RULES!
Um... what about Jeb? I was hoping to see him run for Senate, with Harris running for Governor...
If there is a Jeb v Harris primary, it will be ugly and to the detriment of the GOP
But if Jeb doesn't run for Senate, and lives up to his "no White House" statements, then what exactly are his future ambitions? Is he planning on just taking a few years off from politics, then hoping for a GOP win in 2008 and a cabinet post?
What cabinet posts are he qualified for? Education? Interior? Agriculture?
I mean, he's a great guy, but he's not Sec State, Sec Defense, or Sec Treasury material... other than those, what cabinet positions are really all that great?

Katherine Harris will win the US Senate race. Only 35% of Florida voters want to see Bill Nelson re-elected while 37% say it's time for someone else to be Senator and 28% don't know. With 35% Re-elect numbers it's so obvious he's finished. All the GOP needed was a big name to get rid of this guy and we got it!
