Senator Durbin, on the Senate floor, yesterday compared our brave men and women in the armed forces to the Nazis.
If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.
Who would've thought on the afternoon of September 11th, when the smoke was clearing and our resolve was strong, that we'd get back to a point where our own elected representatives casually labelled our brave men and women of the armed forces as nazis?
Durbin was probably just looking for five minutes of fame as we enter the next election cycle. Well, his comments are going to reach millions, that's for sure... compliments of AlJazeera and other enemy-friendly propaganda machines.
I'm sure the soldiers in the combat zones are happy to have elected officials like Durbin. Morale is so overrated anyway.
Durbin was given an opportunity to take his stupid comments back and did not. This indicates to me that he intends to ride this out and is not feeling enough heat yet.
Sen. Bill Frist needs to move to have this revoked from the record.
This will have the effect of getting the slander out of the official record; and turning up the heat on Durbin.
This can not stand.

If you go to the senate web site and click on the link to send email to Durbin, you get an error message. Wonder what that means? My guess is that he's getting so much flak that they just took the web page down. Sorta the high-tech "I hear your already" approach. You can, however, go to his own web site and click on the "Contact Center" button and leave a message for him. I think he needs to hear from all of us.

I'll try the website. i've been calling and calling and have had no luck.
This must not stand.
Durbin has 2 choices:
Apologize
Resign
Also, we must get that statement out of the official record. It is already being widely quoted by our enemy. Soon we'll be seeing photoshopped pictures of our troops with swastikas on their uniform.
If this stupid man gets away with this it will be the beginning of the end.
This must not stand.

I just called Senator Durbin's office. I got as far as saying, "Hello, my name is ______ and I'm calling to protest Senator Durbin's recent remarks in the Senate in which he compared U.S. soldiers in Guantanamo to Nazis...," AT WHICH POINT HIS OFFICE HUNG UP ON ME. This arrogant thug apparently thinks it's acceptable for a U.S. Senator to insult our troops, aid the enemy, and then say "f*ck off" to U.S. citizens offended by his behavior. We MUST push Sen. Durbin's comments onto every TV news program and front pages of every newspaper, and then punish him savagely in the next election. I, for one, will donate to whomever opposes him even though I don't live in Illinois.
