Protecting Old Glory

The "flag burning" amendment is up for a House vote later today - details over a Blogs for Bush.

While I whole-heartedly agree that only a sick individual would burn their own flag, unless ofcourse they have GOOD REASON to hate their country and demand change etc. the very thin that sets US apart is our wackos CAN DO IT without having their limbs chopped off/various other forms of ACTUAL TORTURE.

However, during a time of war, i think it could and SHOULD rightly be tried as Treason.

I am one who beleives that the flag should be allowed to be burned by wackos, because if the glorious First Amendment will protect someone like that, it wil surely protect all of us, and the allowance such an act only makes the core principles of our great country stronger.

Im of the opinion that the flag is such a symbol of the country and the government that an attack on it should be treated as the same. You throw a rock at a government vehicle, you go to jail. You burn a flag, you go to jail. Same thing.
