Spanish PM Urges Surrender in War on Terrorism

Well, that is the only thing I can get out of this editorial penned by Prime Minister Jose Zapatero in the Financial Times:

The appropriate forum to consolidate the political consensus against terrorism has to be the United Nations. The organisation must be given the means - including a legal framework and the operational tools - to lead the international fight against terrorism, enabling it to be waged more effectively.

So, the Spanish PM wants to turn over the fight against terrorism to the UN...the same UN which has, among its members, the terrorist-sponsors in Iran, Syria, Sudan, North Korea...I guess in Spain they've never had the story about the fox guarding the henhouse.

Please do read the entirety of Zapatero's editorial - it does turn the stomach to see a man who's country was so savagely attacked by terrorists can, a couple days after another country is savagely attacked, still talk like terrorism is a matter for the police; that its a matter of just better coordination of law enforcement, plus a judicious application of foreign aid and an implied desire to pressure Israel to surrender a bit more (the PM's bit about not ignoring "conflicts that have become entrenched").

The Spanish Prime Minister does say that no cause can ever justify the use of terrorism - it is too bad that he doesn't take his own advice. It turns out that the terrorist attack on Spain was entirely justified from the terrorist point of view...it turned Spain into a craven country, ruled by a coward who only hopes that the enemy will kill him last.
