Our friends on the left, who scream bloody murder over the treatment of terrorists in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, are a bit more reticent when it comes to the actions of the government of Cuba - here's a reminder of how Castro treats political opposition:
Opposition figures in Cuba say at least 20 Cuban dissidents have been detained as part of a crackdown against the country's political opposition. They are said to include the three main organisers of a public meeting of dissidents which took place in May.
We're waiting now for Durbin and the rest of the Democrats to make floor speeches condemning this sort of thing...of course, we'll go on waiting and never hear a peep about it on the left. Castro, you see, might be a bloodthirsty murderer of the innocent, but he's also got universal health care in addition to being an enemy of the United States...for the left, you just can't complain about that.
One other thing of note in the news story - apparantly, there is growing discontent in Cuba. When the revolution does come to Cuba (a real revolution, mind you - not exchanging a dictator for a worse dictator), I wonder how our leftwing friends will view it?
I completely agree. The left are a bunch of obstructionists who's only objective is to try, and fail, but try nontheless, to hurt our President during a time of war. I'm sure we could find a lot of dictators throughout history that they would have loved.
