By now, it is well known that NARAL's attack ad on John Roberts is a complete lie. But what has not been discussed is the implication of NARAL's grossly misleading accusations. If John Roberts's brief in the Bray v. Alexandria Women's Health Clinic case means he has a "record of siding with violent anti-choice extremists," then so does Supreme Court Justice David Souter. Because the Court, by a 6-3 decision, with Souter in the majority, agreed with Roberts's opinion of the law.
And again, left-wing groups will always try to obfuscate the fact that these arguments are not about the politics or the policies, but about the legalities. To say that an 1871 anti-Ku Klux Klan law is not applicable to abortion clinic protests is a legal argument, not an endorsement of clinic bombings. Liberal implications to the contrary reveal just how bankrupt their positions are.
