As we noted earlier, Senator John Corzine (D-Sopranos) made a "loan" to the head of a New Jersey union and then forgave the debt - the head of this union being a lady Corzine was fooling around with behind the back of his then-wife. Eric Fetterman of the NY Post has more on the issue:
In 2003, during the course of their relationship, Corzine loaned Katz $470,000 — about $100,000 more than she needed to buy her ex-husband's share of a 19th-century Hunterdon County farmhouse.Shortly after their romance ended — and about a week before he announced for governor — Corzine forgave the loan, converting it into a gift, and paying another $200,000 in taxes. He says he did so because Katz "didn't have the resources" to repay the loan. A few months later, her union endorsed his candidacy.
Though he insists everything was above board, it later turned out that Corzine had made two other sizable personal loans to women — but the one to Katz was the only one he didn't report on his U.S. Senate disclosure forms. (The senator maintains those loans actually were business investments.)
And it now turns out that the home Katz bought isn't her primary residence. She spends most of her time in a posh Hoboken waterfront apartment — and Corzine has apartment two floors up.
As I pointed out before, imagine if this were a GOP Senator and the loan was to a lady who worked as an oil industry lobbyist. When you put it into that context, you can see (aside from the media bias) how bad this scandal really is. Senators aren't supposed to be loaning money to people who have business with the government - certainly not with people who make major political endorsements at election time. What would we think if Hillary were to loan half a million dollars to the head of the Teamsters a month or two before a Teamsters endorsement of a Presidential bid by Hillary? And then forgive the loan? Can you say, "bribe", boys and girls?
New Jersey politics under the leadership of the Democrats is dirtier than any I've ever seen in my life (and, hey, I live in Las Vegas where the guy who ran on an anti-corruption platform was just convicted of taking bribes) - here's to hoping that the people of New Jersey realise that their only hope of cleaning it up is to get the Democrats entirely out of power.
QUESTION: If there is any possible truth to even half of what is reported here, why isn't this being covered in the major media? ANSWER: Corzine "owns" or is well connected to the power brokers, media moguls, etc. Goldman Sachs the firm he used to run, has made lots of money for many/most of the powerful media companies...
