You know, it is getting a little unfair - I mean, Karl Rove's mind-control ray has been useful these past few years, but I think its time to let up before our Democrats start drinking turpentine, or something...as Joe Gandleman over at The Moderate Voice notes:

John Kerry's latest salvo delivered to state legislators in Washington state contains the seeds of an underlying dilemma for Democrats:

"Sen. John F. Kerry told state legislators Friday the Democratic Party doesn't need to undergo an extreme makeover, saying 'the last thing America needs is a second Republican Party.'

After blistering Republicans on everything from Iraq to health care, Kerry said Democrats have an opportunity to rebuild nationally by simply addressing the concerns that affect people's daily lives — energy, transportation, health care and security."

As my Dad would put it - yep, we don't need two Republican parties...but it would be nice if we had a Democratic Party to fight against the GOP...rather than this rag-tag collection of super-rich lefties held aloft by conspiracy-theorist leftwing screwballs. Gandleman observes that the rule is, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...but a Party which has lost the last three elections - and failed to score a majority of the Presidential vote since 1976 - is not something unbroken. There might be a need to tweak a thing or two, ya know?

So, what do we have in our Democrats? Hillary Clinton trying to tack right in preparation for her Presidential bid in 2008; Howard Dean making rousing, hate-Bush speeches to leftwing audiences while Ken Mehlman chats up black Americans and union members; Chuck Schumer taking notes from Ted Kennedy on how to "Bork" a judicial nominee; Mrs. Edwards writing notes for Cindy Sheehan...and John Kerry, the loser of last year's election, saying that all is well...

Come on, Democrats...at least try to make it hard for us...
