While President Bush has been entirely unfairly criticised regarding Hurricane Katrina, the left doesn't appear to have found the time to slander the Republican governors also involved in the disaster recovery work - and that is showing in polling. While Governor Blanco (D-LA) has seen her approval rating collapse from 50% to 41%, Governors Haley Barbour (R-MS) and Rick Perry (R-TX) have risen 43% to 58% and 39% to 49% respectively - once again, crisis has struck America, and it is Republican leadership which does the job. Why should this be?
The most important thing, in my view, is that Repubicans - on the whole - view government as something done in the name of all the people and in the service of all the people...Democrats, on the other hand, view it as a mere political calculation designed to disunify their political opposition and make happy their varied special interest groups. This is why on the Republican side you'll never see things such as worries that the staff of a Red Cross shelter are not of the correct skin color.
Americans have a choice every election day - pick the Party which says they care, or pick the Party which will actually get things done...the results of the last few elections tells the tale, I think, about what sort of Party the American people really want.

Don't forget the leap in approval ratings Gov. Bob Riley (R-AL) has experienced.
