Democratic Dirty Tricks

Over on the Democrat/left side of the political aisle, one of the oft-repeated accusations against the Patriot Act is that it infringes upon Americans' right to privacy - dark hints are given about how Big Brother will be checking up on us unless we radically alter, if not repeal, the Act...so, this was a bit of a surprise (from Captain's Quarters):

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said Tuesday that two of its employees obtained the credit report of Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, a potential Republican challenger next year for the Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Paul Sarbanes.

Phil Singer, spokesman for the committee, said in a statement issued in Washington that the two employees have resigned. He said the credit report was not used or disseminated to anyone, and the incident was reported to the U.S. attorney's office.

Good thing the two employees have resigned, and also good that the incident was reported to the US attorney...but how on Earth could it even occur to a Democrat to so brazenly violate the privacy of Mr. Steele? Could it be that the Democratic braying about privacy is, well, just a bunch of typical Democratic BS? You know, making a political issue on the cynical hope that it will merely harm the GOP, rather than do a good service for the American people?

We report, you decide.
