The story of Able Danger gets stranger all the time - just before former Able Danger personnel were to testify in Congress about their activities, the Department of Defense starting pulling security clearances and forbade testimony...that seems to have changed a bit:
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Senate committee said Friday that the Pentagon has dropped its refusal to let five people with knowledge of a highly classified intelligence program testify about it publicly, but a Pentagon spokesman said it remained opposed to such testimony in an open hearing. In a news release, Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the five will testify at an open hearing Oct. 5.
Essentially, so says Senator Specter - because the news story goes on to note that DOD spokesman is saying that DOD is still refusing to allow the men in question to testify. I think that everyone outside of government is on the same page right about now: Ie, what in heck is going on here?
From what I understand, Able Danger used open-source info to figure out who the bad guys were. During the program, they identified many potential terrorists including 9/11 ringleader Mohammad Atta. Various bureaucratic roadblocks where thrown up which prevented Able Danger from alerting American law enforcement to what they had discovered. In 2000, massive amounts of Able Danger documents were destroyed, allegedly due to privacy concerns (the story we're getting is that lawyers were unsure if it was legal for the US military to obtain the information it received via Able Danger). The scandal in the story doesn't seem to really be anything other than trying to find out why the 9/11 Commission failed to closely examine Able Danger. And yet we see stonewalling on the part of DOD...why? What on Earth is the big worry?
Anyone who has an answer, I'd be happy to hear it.

For now, I'd settle for just seeing the Able Danger story out in public.
About the time the Able Danger story started to be covered here, I looked for something in our local slightly more centrist newspaper, the Rocky Mountain News. But nothing seemed to equal the fascination with the Aspen druggie self-anointed superstar Hunter Thompson. He's been dead for months. He shot and killed himself and his family built a cannon to shoot his ashes into the sky. The News couldn't get enough of this stoner suicide posthumous grandstanding, with daily stories, photos of the cannon, etc. but as for national security? It just can't compare, I guess, to a semi-celebrity's last effort to grab a headline or two.

It seems as if those on the left want this story to be dropped. Why? It doesn't "bash Bush", but rather shows Clinton for what he really was, a "do nothing"..... Or, is it for other reasons....?
Are there names in those files that shouldn't be known.
Are there other files that they do not want known.
"Who" is named in those files.
"Who" would have to answer to the public about names and/or files found within...?
"WE The People" have PAID for that imformation....DEARLY....! 3,000 Amreicans paid for it on 9/11, our troops are still paying for it today....!
WE WANT TO KNOW.........! Do not let this die, keep the pressure on.....
