Democrats are dumb, but they ain't stupid. They generally know that a premature withdrawal (i.e. surrender) from Iraq would be catastrophic. Nevertheless, they persist with their irresponsible sniping at the Administration, without having any alternative view of their own. So what are they up to? Donald Sensing notes that the Democrats' real objective is to take credit for what the Administration and Pentagon have been planning anyway.

Of course they are; why would they take credit for failure??
When Hillary jumps on the bandwagon of the GOP, you know she's mooching off the winners. I just hope everyone sees through it.

"...the Democrats' real objective is to take credit for what the Administration and Pentagon have been planning anyway."
I'm stunned. That would be like taking credit for the welfare reforms of the 90's. Or taking credit for the economic boom that was really just serendipity for Clinton, being in the right place at the right time when it was really Al Gore who should have gotten the credit. After all, he's the one who invented the Internet, the source of that fake boom.
Taking credit for something you really didn't do would be terrible. It would be like taking credit for being a Viet Nam vet when you fought to force the country into a humiliating retreat from that war. Or like taking credit for being a war hero wounded in enemy action when you really just screwed up yourself and ended up with a splinter in your arm.
Or like taking credit for civil rights advances when it was your party that fought every effort to free slaves and then give them the rights of other citizens. It would be like calling Republicans racists when you tell your own constituency that other races are inferior to yours and should be hated.
No, it's too far-fetched

When Hillary does a two-step to agree with Republicans on something, you know we're winning!!!

They can try it, but it won't work.
Sometimes, you can make a false claim and people will buy it because there isn't enough general understanding out there for people to see that you are wrong. Example: Clinton "gave" us a good economy. After all, the economy was looking good while Clinton was in charge and it went south right about the same time GWB took over. To someone who is lacking a fundamental understanding of economics, this one is an easy sell.
But other times, your lie is easily spotted, and you look stupid. For instance, Al Gore claiming he was responsible for the internet. It doesn't take much specialized knowledge or education to be able to see that people have been communicating with computers for decades. It is easy for the layperson to understand what a foe of Gore is talking about when he says that the internet was created laregly thanks to the military looking for a new way to communicate back in the 60's. Such an absurd claim by Gore was very, very easy for the masses to absorb as a lie.
I think any claims that when the troops come home it will be due to democRat pressure will fall into the latter category. Bush has been making the case from the beginning that major troop withdrawal will occur when the Iraqi people are able to defend themselves. This is happening slowly but steadily, and in a year or so we will see troops begin to come home in large numbers. Meanwhile, the democRats have made a name for themselves as the anti-anything-Bush-does-war-is-evil party. This isn't esoteric economic modeling. This is Al Gore and the internet time.
When troops begin to come home, they will be welcomed back as heroes. Meanwhile, the people of Iraq will be demostrably advancing their new nation towards true independence and secured freedom. The success will be self-evident. Anyone who tries to steal credit will be laughed off the podium.
So by all means, let the democRats try this.

As things go better in Iraq the cut and run traitors will have much egg on their face. Their leftist core will be depressed. The fever swamp will get crazier (if thats possible). Two dollar a gallon gas is killing the environmental wackos who dominate the Democrats.
If blacks start voting for enducational choice and social security bank accounts the Dems will be finished.
