MSM Silent on Leaks That Really Matter

Despite all the hyperventilating about Valerie Plame, the case had extraordinarily little to do with national security. The disclosure of her name was not a crime, since she was not a covert agent for over 5 years. Patrick Fitzgerald's refusal to charge anybody with the "leak" demonstrates the point. Nevertheless, the MSM has breathlessly and relentlessly covered this story as if it was actually significant.

However, when it comes to the leaks that do have serious national security implications, the MSM is relatively silent. If secret CIA prisons did exist to interrogate high-level terrorists (and let's hope those stories are true), then the revelation of their existence basically puts them out of business. That is very damaging to our war effort.

Now, it seems that Harry Reid may have leaked sensitive intelligence as well. It wouldn't be the first time he misused confidential information.

The cases of the CIA prisons and Osama bin Laden's status are vastly more critical than the non-leak of a non-agent. But don't expect the MSM to put it all into context.
