It is highly likely that the Shiite mosque in Samarra was destroyed by Wahabi-influenced terrorists. Saudi Arabia, the breeding ground of Sunni Wahabism, should offer to pay for the reconstruction of the Shiite shrine. Such a gesture of solidarity may help to heal the Sunni-Shiite rift that the attack exacerbated and generate enough goodwill to get past this incident. It's not guaranteed to work, but it's worth trying.

I agree. The Saudi's may have had nothing to do wwith the bombing, but a move such as this would probably go a long way towards mending fences that have been "blown up" by the radical Sunni terrorists.

I am totally against using American taxpayers' money to build any Islamic mosques anywhere. Why, Bush should be rebuilding the Baptist churches burned in Alabama before rebuilding temples to Allah of the Muslims. What's the matter with the man?
