That is how Boston.com is reporting it - as if Kerry hadn't been looking at 2008 since about 30 seconds after conceding in 2004:

WASHINGTON -- As Senator John F. Kerry prepared to make a return to presidential-style politics with a classic day of New Hampshire campaigning, he said that the 2004 run left him tougher and more eager to fight.(emphasis added)

Well, thanks, Boston.com - none of had even the slightest clue that Kerry was looking for a re-try in 2008. This just makes my draw drop - Kerry has been so reticent and so statesman like...hasn't even given a hint of ambition.
