The Trouble With Islam

Even though the Taliban has been toppled and a relatively benign government has been installed in its place, Islam's extreme and violent intolerance is on display in Afghanistan.

An Afghan man who allegedly converted from Islam to Christianity is being prosecuted in a Kabul court and could be sentenced to death, a judge said Sunday.
What does it say that a nation that has rejected the Taliban as too radical and that is considered more reflective of its people's will still has such laws?

I can't say about Afghanistan, but in researching UAE I discovered that they have two court systems...one of secular law and one of sacred law, something you would only find in a theocracy or monotheistic culture. In judging this situation using Western standards, I would just say that a death penalty or any civil rights infringement crosses the line. Shunning is the worst that should occur.
