Liberal Blogs Want To Make A Quick Buck off of "United 93"

Over at the leftist blog MyDD is a long rant complaining that the marketers of the movie United 93 (which I saw last night) only did an ad buy on conservative blogs via BlogAds.

Chris Bowers at MyDD wrote:

Those were not the only emotion that stirred in me when I saw the trailer. I also worried that a movie studio might be trying to make a buck by exploiting some of the most painful memories of Americans. I worried that it might be too soon. I also worried that conservatives would try to exploit this movie in order to further their own agenda, as they have tried to exploit 9/11 to further their own agenda for over four and a half years now. From the way Republicans talk, you would think that only Republicans died on 9/11, that only conservatives took action aboard United Flight 93, that the New York City fire fighters all voted for George Bush, that only people who have somehow "forgotten" what no one could ever forget oppose the Iraq war.
Amazing isn't it, after seeing the trailer for the movie, Bowers had an immediate political reaction. It amazes me how the left still accuses conservatives of exploiting 9/11 (that accusation is really getting old). But the hypocrisy of the rant is what really gets to me. Bowers said, "I also worried that a movie studio might be trying to make a buck by exploiting some of the most painful memories of Americans," after which Bowers essentially whines that no liberal blog were a part of the massive ad buy by the marketers of the movie. So who's really trying to make a quick buck?

Bowers also chose to boycott the movie until he received an explanation. I guess everything, even 9/11, is political to the left.

You know what's getting older than people accusing Bush of exploiting 9/11 for political purposes? Bush exploiting 9/11 for political purposes.

I mean, seriously, accusing the left of politicizing 9/11 is the biggest load of bull. But, nobody would ever accuse conservatives of having shame.

liberals wouls love to sweep 9/11 under the rug because fighting terrorism is a losing issue for them, therefore the only way they can try to silence any talk about 9/11 is to accuse Bush of exploiting it. Of course, when Dems try to exploit 9/11, they say nothing.

There is no way anything decent can be said about those people. They were going to San Francisco which is a liberal town filled with traitors.

It want to see a real example of politicization of 9/11 and United 93 try Rush Limbaugh's "review" from April 14, where he uses the movie once again to score cheap political points against imaginary left wing straw men and then proceeds to blame Clinton.

e.g. Rush: "So Bush comes in, has to clean up the mess left by the Clinton people who were inattentive to real problems."

According to Rush you cant both be critical of the President AND be angry at the terrorists. He pretends its either or, given that its politically and ideologically convenient. Of course its different for critics of the Clinton Administration.

We are at war and liberals won't remember it until a raghead is cutting their head off. If a movie is what it takes to remind them, fine, but most will have forgotten by the time they leave the parking lot.

Yes, conservatives are "exploiting" 911 the way Roosavelt exploited Pearl Harbor. What do you expect from a bunch of anti-American traitors. They want us to loose the war on terror. Its time to start deprting Democrats to their favorite terrorist state.

The only blog post I have seen on '93 was from a conservative blogger who was touting it as support for Iraq, the Patriot Act, and wiretapping. Which as we know have overwhelming public support (not) or are you claiming that 65% of the country is now liberal or stupid or both? Maybe they (we) need another 9/11 to drive the point home.

patx77... where is this post you speak of? it's not the one linked in this post.... if this post exists why not link to it?

He can't post the phantom site, because he suckled at the foot of a liberal teacher, and never learned to speak the truth. I thought liberals were for the Patriot Act...just wanted to fine tune it. ha ha Public support is for the Patriot Act which is now the LAW, and for the wiretapping of Osama's gang, and not the Al Qaeda telephone rights act that patx77 supports. I believe RA is correct....we need to start deporting Democrats to their favorite terrorist state... start a TV program we could call American Infidel...the winner gets to spout anti-American b.s. and a free trip to a terror hotspot to get his head cut off in prime time. I'm throwing my support for the commies on here to sign up. I'll throw in a few bucks if they take a couple of protesting illegals with them.

Is this movie necessary.
Who doesn't know this story by now?

Dickdee,

It is interesting that you would call the deportation show American Infidel. See, what you right wing nutjobs don't understand is that, by your extremism you are actually more like the terrorist you claim to hate.

By the way, claiming the liberals are exploiting 9/11 is just about the most amazing load of crap I have ever heard. Specifically when you consider that Bush exploited 9/11 to start a war against religious extremists in a secular nation. Though I am impressed by the marketing strategy that could make such a bs premise stick, I am astounded to now hear you dicks complain that the left is the one with the bloody shirt. go screw!

I was pleased to read that others feel the same way about this politically manipulative movie as I do. And such great timing!

My opinion, speaking as a semi-liberal, or what passes for one in Georgia. I won't see United 93, and I don't care if you do. I happened to be in Northern NJ on 9/11, and I don't wish to revisit a fictionalized retelling of the 93 tragedy, or the destruction of the towers. Because I know people who died, I know what NYC was like immediately after and know what it's like now. And I refuse to give a dime or an ounce of energy to people who capitalize on this tragedy. That means our administration, the Chinese manufacturers who sell citizens magnetized bumper stickers and other garbage, and the makers of United 93 and related films.

Those who would like to support it, do so. But I vote with my dollars according to the dictates of my conscience, and I won't. Cheers.

We should send all the commies, illegal immigrants and terrorists in this country to the reservations and pay the indians to deal with it.

Sometimes I wonder if the native americans are the only 'collective' people [in this country] who still have the balls left to deal with these problems. They learned long ago that border control can be the greatest failing of any great nation.
