I wonder if, between the critically important stories about the latest "American Idol" vote, gas prices and whether someone in the White House revealed the name of a woman who was not a covert CIA agent, the MSM might have time to report on the fact that Al Qaeda believes that it is losing in Iraq and America is winning. Of course, this would run counter to the MSM's preferred "narrative" about what is going on in Iraq so it'll be a tough editorial call for news producers to make: do we report the truth or do we stick with our version of events?
That's why the blogosphere is so important. Without it, we might have never learned about this story. Captain Ed elaborates on Al Qaeda documents released by Centcom.
CENTCOM announced today that they had captured al-Qaeda correspondence in Iraq that discusses the state of the insurgency, especially around Baghdad but also around the entire country. Far from optimistic, the documents captured in an April 16th raid reveal frustration and desperation, as the terrorists acknowledge the superior position of American and free Iraqi forces and their ability to quickly adapt to new tactics.Since the central front in our war against Islamic terrorism is currently in Iraq, you'd think our enemy's admission of failure would be news.

Re: Plame.
David Shuster reports that sources have told him how National Security was damaged when Valerie Plame-Wilson's identity was leaked by the White House. His intel sources say that she worked with gathering intelligence on Weapons of Mass Destruction. The outing of her name specifically damaged our national ability to collect intelligence on Iran's nuclear capabilities.

A purported al Qaeda document published by the U.S. military may or may not be authentic but its message that the Sunni Islamist guerrillas face problems in Iraq could reflect reality, security experts said on Tuesday.

As for who outed Valerie Plame, someone might want to check with Joe Wilson on this. He may have been the leaker. More on this can be found at www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=47309 and elsewhere. We should allow the investigations to be completed before we rush to judgement. Once the investigations are completed, let the chips fall where they may. The leaking of any classified information whether it be by Scooter Libby, Joe Wilson, or of the NSA program should be punished to the maximum extent possible.
