Word is that Democrats are planning to filibuster John Bolton's renomination as ambassador to the U.N. Clearly, all they care about is obstructing President Bush's nominee no matter how qualified or right for the job they are.
The Republican Jewish Coalition explained in an email why we need John Bolton in the United Nations:
- Bolton defends President Bush’s unwavering support of Israel.
- Bolton has been an excellent spokesman at the U.N. and has already had a profound impact in reforming the international body, championing greater accountability and fiscal responsibility.
- Bolton vetoed U.N. Security Council resolutions condemning Israel.
- Bolton upheld human rights principles by refraining from voting for the new U.N. Human Rights
- Council, which has put condemning Israel at the top of its agenda.
- Bolton is not afraid to work with U.S. allies to develop diplomatic strategies to achieve peaceful goals. He led the U.N. Security Council effort to sanction Iran if it continues to pursue uranium enrichment.
- Bolton stands up against Iran and is working with U.N. colleagues to develop an Iran Resolution.
- Bolton stands up against North Korea, condemning North Korea’s Missile launches.
- Bolton supports Operation Iraqi Freedom. Bolton’s first action as U.N. Ambassador was to cast a vote against terrorism in Iraq; Bolton has taken a tough position on the Oil-for- Food Scandal; Bolton has argued for Iraqi Prosecution of Saddam Hussein.
- Bolton successfully achieved a unanimous U.N. resolution on the situation in Darfur,Sudan.
In the extended entry I've posted the contact information of all the Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee... contact them and tell them to support Bolton!

To tell the Dems to support Bolton would be like telling Godzilla not to destroy Tokyo

Jainphx, maybe the Republicans can string a few high-tension electrical wires around the Demoncrats.?. Seriously, John Bolton is the only good in that waste of space otherwise known as the U.N. The Demons would be committing hari-kari in November if they filibustered John Bolton's renomination.

You are wrong. It is not a waste of time to tell the Dems to vote for Bolton. Last time they were united against him. But this time it is different. He has a record and the public supports Bolton. The Dems know this and they are TORN. That's why NOW is the time to get the vote out on him, and there ARE Dems who are persuadable. This is important. Don't discourage people from writing to their Senators. As someone who used to work on the hill, I can tell you that if they are flooded with letters or e-mails on an issue, they pay attention!
