The latest Rasmussen survey has Lamont at 51% and Lieberman at 41%. This represents a 16 point swing to Lamont since the last Rasmussens survey in June.
I think the writing is on the wall - Lieberman, and all he represents, is finished in the Democratic Party. No more are patriotic liberals welcome in the land of Kos, DU and Michael Moore.
If, as looks likely, Lieberman loses the Democratic primary, I'm not entirely certain that Lieberman would then romp to an easy win as an Independent. A very substantial portion of non-leftwing Democrats would still show up to support Lamont, and Lamont's campaign would have a massive amount of energy and enthusiaism behind it. It may take an explicit play for Republican support for Lieberman to pull it out - and the price of that would be a Lieberman pledge to caucus with the GOP on organizational matters.
As a small silver lining - if Lieberman does return to the a Senate still controlled by the GOP, he might very well be able to lead a dozen Democrats out of the Democratic Party and start the formation of a new, center/left Party to take over from the disintegrating Democrats.

The dissolution of the current Democratic Party seems nigh. Good.

God Mark, you're so sick. It's "patriotism" to support obviously failed military policy?

Keep dreaming.

Jomentum's a dead duck and I have trouble believing that an embarassing double-digit primary loss would be an auspicious starting point for an indy bid. You want him? You can have him.
It should be pretty obvious that he's not going to "lead" a majority of (or even a few) Democrats anywhere.

Hey Winnohead, how can it be failed policey when there is no way we can lose. Well unless we turn tail and run like the libbies did from Vietnam. We were winning there also but we left and MILLIONS were killed because we left. So go get a clue.

I believe Lieberman will have to run as an Independent because Lamont is going to win the primary. Its a shame but true. I believe alot of Republicans will vote Lieberman if he runs 3rd party, question is will it be enough to carry him to a victory? We'll see!!!
