Big Government Republican Loses Primary

Conservatives have been justifiably disappointed in the Republican party due to its total abandonment of limited government principles. Yesterday, while Ned Lamont's defeat of Joe Lieberman got the headlines, Republican voters delivered an important victory to a primary challenger who advocated tax and spending cuts.

In its first-ever primary victory against an incumbent, the Club for Growth PAC extended its record to 7 wins and 2 losses when challenger Tim Walberg defeated incumbent Representative Joe Schwarz today in Michigan's seventh district. Michigan Republican voters sent a clear message to Congress that they are tired of the big-spending, big-government policies that contributed so much to Joe Schwarz's downfall.
The Club for Growth was critical in this victory; I am proud to have shifted all of my political contributions away from the RNC, NRSC and NRCC to the Club for Growth. Between this result and the breathtaking landslide in Pennsylvania that swept out entrenched Republican incumbents who were big spenders in the state government, maybe the out-of-touch GOP in the Beltway will wake up.
