Diplomacy 101: Never, EVER Trust France

Rich Lowry has more on France's breathtaking duplicity...even for France.

France initially agreed with the United States on a United Nations resolution creating an international force that would operate with robust rules of engagement to confront the terrorist guerrilla group. When the Arabs balked, France insisted that the rules of engagement be made considerably vaguer. Since France was going to lead the force, the U.S. deferred to Paris, which has subsequently said that it will contribute only 200 combat engineers to the force because ... the rules on engagement are so vague.
Whenever empty-headed and historically ignorant liberals (and dimwitted Republicans like chuck Hagel) blast the Bush administration's foreign policy by yapping away about America needing to work with our allies, work with the international community, utilize the UN, yada yada yada, recall that the UN and some of our so-called allies are not only feckless, conniving and untrustworthy, but are eager to do the bidding of the Islamist forces that threaten the world.

Having allies is a bad thing. They always want to meddle in making the decisions, and if they don't agree with us it's because they're wrong.

It's official-France is not America's ally. US foreign policy should be officially and publically adjusted to reflect this reality (which has been painfully obvious for 40 years).
