First Condi gets backstabbed by France and now by Russia. How much longer do we have to pretend that the "working with our allies" can work? Iran will go nuclear unless we stop them - forcibly.
Russia on Friday rejected any talk for now of sanctions against Iran and France warned against conflict with Tehran, raising doubt whether it will face swift penalties for not halting nuclear work by an August 31 deadline...They apparently think Iran will just decide one day that they don’t want us to be mad at them and they’ll unilaterally stop their nuclear program without anything forcing them to do so. Anyone who believes that does not deserve to practice diplomacy. I repeat that the UN will do exactly nothing to stop Iran’s nuclear program, which means it will require either American or Israeli military action."I know of no instances in world practice and previous experience in which sanctions have achieved their aim and proved effective," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov told reporters during a trip to Russia's far east.
"Moreover, I believe that the question is not so serious at the moment for the U.N. Security Council or the group of six to consider any introduction of sanctions. Russia stands for further political and diplomatic efforts to settle the issue."

As that Iran is allowed to enrich uranium for reactor fuel under the ‘nuclear non proliferation treaty’; I feel that we should have rock solid evidence that they are in fact trying to build a bomb before acting militarily.

It's amazing that France, Russia and China too are willing to self-neuter the collective security process that all three nations describe as key to keeping world peace.
If the UN (Useless Nations) is to be taken seriously and live up to it's creed, then it has to demonstrate some effectiveness on the issues addressed by the Security Council.
Otherwise, what's the point of having a UN in the first place?
