Dick Polman's Propaganda Broadsheet

Found this interesting - first off, here is how Dick Polman, in a striking bit of modesty, allows himself to be described on the front page of his blog:

Cited by the Columbia Journalism Review as one of the nation's top political reporters, and lauded by the ABC News political website as "one of the finest political journalists of his generation," Dick Polman is a national political columnist at the Philadelphia Inquirer. This online column is cited by The Washington Post as one of the top five mainstream political blogs in the country...

Pretty impressive - the guy is a regular Edward R. Murrow, huh? If so, then this is rather surprising:

The Mark Foley scandal is the Cliff Notes version of the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Even though both share a common theme – Republicans breaching their conservative principles in order to perpetuate their power – the details of the Abramoff scandal can’t be reduced to resonant shorthand. Abramoff, a high-rolling lobbyist who in his youth embodied the conservative revolution, defrauded clients and poured tainted money that was routed through various non-profit front groups into the GOP’s coffers…you see the problem. How many voters can grasp all that in a heartbeat? The Foley case, however, is something else. Here’s the shorthand: “The party of conservative family values knew about a member who was preying on boys, yet did nothing about it."

Really, Dick? We, as a Party, knew that a member of our Party was preying on boys and yet we did nothing about it? Got any proof of that? Or is one of the nation's top political reporters just making stuff up as he goes along?

The left side of the aisle was asserting in 1998 that Clinton was innocent even though proven guilty, while in 2006 those very same people are saying the entire GOP is guilty because one member of the Party turned out to be a degenerate (and a whiner, too...now he's claiming he was molested by a priest as a young boy; poor little Mark Foley). The level of hypocrisy on the left side of the aisle is astounding. Tell ya what, lefties, once you get Kennedy, Byrd, Frank, Emanuel, Reid, McDermott, Jefferson, Pelosi, etc, etc, etc to resign over their corrupt practices, then come over here to the right and start casting stones.

We'll fix ourselves up - Foley is condemne and out and unless he shows genuine contrition and begs forgiveness, he'll be stuck in the outer darkness he landed himself in...and any other GOP who does thusly will share the same, richly deserved fate...

What I find most interesting about this is the number of right-wing homosexuals now showing up in the news. Here you have the republican party, constantly gay-bashing, and suddenly, whoops? There are gay republican congressmen who were previously in the closet? No one seems to have hit on this yet - but it is another hypocrisy that should help the republican’s undoing this fall.

Sean,

What is really amusing is how you are sticking to the worn-out, "GOPers aer anti-gay bigots" when for the past six years we conservative GOPers have had absolutely no problem with a Vice President who's daughter is lesbian.

The problem you have is that you think any dissent from the most radical gay rights agenda is to be anti-gay...why don't you think about that a bit and realise that, just perhaps, people might have honest disagreements and are not evil simply because they don't agree 100% with you?
