House Speaker Dennis Hastert and other Republicans appear to be doing the right thing in the aftermath of the Foley-Page Scandal. Hastert has even promised that anyone who hid information about the scandal will be let go.
This right here is more than anyone in the Democratic Party has done in response to scandals in their own party. House Democrats did not call for an investigation into Cythnia McKinney for assaulting a police officer. House Democrats waited a year to strip William Jefferson of his committee assignment... and that was only after it was revealed that there was video evidence of him taking a bribe, but he's still in Congress. House Democrats have been protecting Jim McDermott for years... Alan Mollohan is also in trouble, and the worst thing he's had to do is give up his seat on the Ethics committee... you don't see him resigning from Congress either.
When it comes to dealing with corrupt members within their Party, Republicans do what it takes to "clean house" while Democrats bolt their name plates to their office doors.
