Senator Santorum did a bit of guest-blogging over at Captain's Quarters - and pulled no punches:
As I told Pittsburgh-area radio host Fred Honsberger today, “bizarre” is a good word to describe our campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania this year. I’ve never been involved in a campaign like this one where someone felt so entitled to winning an office simply because they have a famous last name. And that someone I refer to is Bob Casey, Jr.He’s running a cookie-cutter campaign, repeating the same canned phrases time and again. His latest talker -- calling me desperate. My response: it’s not desperation, it’s exasperation. My opponent, Bob Casey, Jr. is trying to make this entire campaign a referendum on Rick Santorum and the Bush Administration. He’s giving the people NO reason to vote FOR him.
He’s refused to engage in substantive debate. In every debate, even the moderators or panelists felt compelled to point out that he avoided giving a straight answer to their questions. It’s been like pulling teeth to get him to respond to questions. And in almost all cases, he didn’t answer them all together.
It can be exasperating. But I have a lot of faith in the people of Pennsylvania, and those across this country who have been so supportive.
If you are a ticked off conservative GOPer, then here's your big chance to both think carefully over what you will do in three weeks, and also dig in and help out Rick Santorum, who has been our solid, conservative voice in the Senate for years. Here's his website - if you live in Pennsylvania, then volunteer; if you don't, then perhaps a little cash for the cause?
We can all understand that our Congressional GOP hasn't been exactly stellar - but they are still our GOP and the only Party who will even so much as give conservatism a second glance. If you think its been like pulling teeth to get bedrock conservatism through the Senate with a GOP majority, imagine how hard it would be with a Majority Leader Reid. Too much is at stake for anyone to indulge in a fit of perfectionism - with the life of our nation on the line in the War on Terrorism, we daren't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

What reason has Rick Santorum given Pennsylvanians to vote for him? Rick Santorum is the one who is running as if he's entitled.
'Waaa, mommy the bad Bob Casey is trying to steal me seat!'
What has Rick done to earn a vote? Try to kill Social Security? Say women should stay in the kitchen? Discuss beastiality on record for no reason? He is a walking-talking embarresment for our state. I'd sooner not vote than vote for Santorum. Which, if we can't stand either Casey or Santorum, would be the next logical step.
