What Race Card?

So, apparently there's some uproar over this ad from the Republican National Committee on Harold Ford, Jr.:

The liberal talking point of the moment is that there is a racial subtext to this ad because the actress playing a Playboy bunny is white, and Harold Ford, Jr. is black, and at the end of the ad she says, "Harold, call me," and winks.

Where's the racial subtext? You know, I've watched it a couple times, and I'm still looking for it.

But, some (liberal) people are saying that the ad "plays off fears some people still have about interracial couples." A rather ridiculous claim.

I'm tired of the left bitching and moaning when a black Democrat's positions and character are criticized, yet they condone blatantly racist attacks against black Democrats, such as when Michael Steele had Oreo cookies thrown at him at a rally by Democrats. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer recently called Steele "slavish," but you don't see him getting reamed about that by the NAACP do you?

This seems to be the Democrats chosen strategy. Put an black candidate on the ballot, and any ad that is critical of him you can charge as being racist. It's happening my state in Massachusetts, too. Ads that have exposed the weak-on-crime record of Democrat Deval Patrick have been accused of having a racial subtext as well. This is what Democrats do. They run from their record and hide behind flase charges of racism.

What the Democrats are really saying, is that the state is filled with racist rednecks, because only racist rednecks know that 'Playboy Bunny' equals interracial sex.

Hey, that Steele Oreo story was debunked as the lie that it is, and last time I looked, anyone of any any race can have a slavish devotion to something. To deny that the Republican Southern strategy has been to appeal to white racists is just absurd.

the Oreo cookie story was never debunked. Don't pretend that it was.

"It didn't happen here," said Vander Harris, operations manager of the Murphy Fine Arts Building at Morgan State. "I was in on the cleanup, and we found no cookies or anything else abnormal. There were no Oreo cookies thrown." [...]

Clint Coleman, a spokesman for Morgan State who was at the event, said he saw lots of unseemly behavior but no Oreos.

"There were a lot of things, disturbances, by this group of outsiders who were bent on disrupting the debate," Coleman said. "But I never actually saw Oreo cookies being thrown at him."

As for "raining Oreos," Coleman said, "I can tell you that did not happen."

Neil Duke, who moderated the event for the NAACP, said last week that he didn't see any cookies.

Well, that's not a shock--nobody has ever accused you of being perceptive.
