Here is Harold Ford, Democrat from Tennessee, explaining himself:
FORD: What Tennesseans will get will be a Jesus-loving, gun- supporting believer that families should come first, that taxes should be lower and America should be strong. When Tennesseans send us to the Senate, that's what they'll get in my votes and that's what they'll get in the kind of leadership that we have not had in the Senate over the last six years.
He was answering Chris Wallace's question about whether electing fairly conservative Ford would give the people of Tennessee just more of the liberalism they long ago rejected - Ford didn't actually answer the question, in keeping with long-standing Democratic procedure of never getting nailed down on anything, but, good Lord!, was that a Democrat speaking, or Jesse Helms? As a side note, is it possible to love Jesus as well as parties over at Hef's place?
This is, however, the big thing for Democrats in 2006 - all over the country they are running right-talking candidates in red areas of the country hoping to fool centrists and conservatives in to making Ted Kennedy and Charlie Rangle committee chairmen. The dishonesty of the Democratic Party knows no bounds - they would run as transgendered neo-Nazis of color if they thought it would get them to 218 House and 51 Senate seats.

"As a side note, is it possible to love Jesus as well as parties over at Hef's place?"
As a side note, is it possible to be the party of 'family values' and still take (and spend) money from the 'gay porn king' of America and the porn princess Mary Carey? Seems to be a no-brainer for the Grand Olde Party of Hypocrites.

This kind of bait and switch ain't gonna work. Here’s a cartoon to send to any pabulum puking liberals/Ford supporters you happen to know. Its finally a something that explains what we Republicans are all about and might help them get a clue in life (but don’t hold your breath!)

Mary Carey isn't the Republican candidate for Senator in the State of Tennessee...bit of a difference. You see, we Christians recognise that we are all sinners, and we pray that Ms. Carey will come to see the error of her ways and turn her life over to Christ...in the meantime, any connection she can get with people of faith and morals is a good thing...and as we're not about to make her one of 100 US Senators, I don't see the particular problem.

Did you really just say that?

Democrats are entitled to choose whoever they want to represent them in elections. There is nothing dishonest about having Harold Ford running as a Democrat if that is his preference.
What about the Republican party supporting liberal candidates in the northern states, even candidates who voted against President Bush in 2004, like Lincoln Chafee did? The Republican Party supported pro-choice Chafee over a much more conservative, pro-life candidate in the primaries. The same was true in Pennsylvania in 2004 when President Bush and the Republican Party supported moderate, pro-choice Arlen Spector over a much more conservative candidate in the primaries.

Nova,
Yes - you see, we on the right aren't nearly as unforgiving as you on the left are.
You should keep in mind that what has got Ford in trouble is his "I love Jesus" campaign when contrasted to parties with Playboy bunnies. Carey is more than likely just playing up for attention, but she also may be sincere - grasping for something larger and perhaps inclined to change her ways, but not sure of how to do it...but she's a whore, and she makes no bones about it. She isn't pretending to be other than what she is.
Now, she is my sister in Christ - and, indeed, she may be closer to Christ than I am. We're all sinners, and it may be that my sins are actually worse than hers and that she is more contrite about her sins than I am about mine. The final point is that I won't turn her away - I won't say, "stay away, you are not good enough for me"...she may very well be my better.
Were I ever to meet her, I would urge her to stop making pornographic movies: I would urge her to use her obvious beauty to serve God, rather than herself, or the lusts of others.

The national Party cannot do other than support the elected official - it is what a Party is for. Neither Chafee nor Specter are my favorite GOPers, and I supported the conservative challengers for their seats...but I've no complaint about the actions of the national Party organization. They did what they were supposed to do.

The liberals clame that most of the nation agrees with them, but to win elections they pretend to be conservative. Go figure.

Mark,
Don't you see you are holding the Democratic Party to an unbelieveable double standard? You are allowed liberal Republicans, but we aren't allowed conservative Democrats? You can take porn money to fund ads attacking our candidates for taking porn money?
You use the fact that your party TOOK porn money to justify your openness and morality. There is a huge HUGE kink in that argument. By the by, Mary Carey is still making porn. So I would Love to see you spin that into 'seeking repentance'. Pussyman's Decedant Divas 29, to be exact.
Look, I don't care that Mary Carey makes porn, it's her right. Free speech and all. But your party, if not you specifically, are being hypocrites! The GOP directly accused Harold Ford of taking porn money. They did themselves! And when he returned the money, now you say it's because he is intolerant, so he doesn't really love Jesus. You only love Jesus if you take money from active porn stars and producers. Let me go lie down, I think my head is going to explode.
