Election Day Conference Call With Ken Mehlman

I just participated in an Election Day conference call with RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman and several other bloggers and talk radio personalities.

Mehlman was optimistic about the turnout in places like Virginia, and said that some analysis showed that Republicans have a good edge in absentee voting in Tennessee.

We got some information on allegations of Democrats intimidating voters in a number of places. Mehlman reminded us of the 2004 Election Day manual Democrats put out which advised Democratic operatives to allege voter fraud or irregularities even if it didn't exist. Democrats "will cry wolf where there is no wolf, and they are the wolf in sheep's clothing," he said.

There were also reports of anti-Republican vandalism, in a number of places, including New Jersey.

While the reports/analysis we heard was not scientific, so far, irregularities that have been reported have benefited Democrats.

There was a question about the effect of John Kerry's insult to our troops on the election, and Mehlman noted there is objective data showing that there was an impact.

Are you guys serious....I'm independent but it's pretty obvious that the GOP tactics this election cycle have been incomprehensible. People actually might go to jail. Good God.
