With the Senate hanging two races that may be decided by absentee ballots, there is still hope to hang on to the majority in the Senate.
Now, with that in mind, the Republicans need to prepare for the worst, and in the meantime, start talking to Joe Lieberman and convince him to caucus with the GOP.
Joe Lieberman was betrayed by his party, and his victory is in part due to Republicans who would normally have voted with their party's nominee. He may have said before that he would caucus with the Democrats, but that was then and this is now. He won. Democrats will control the House for the next two years, and we need to win the war on terror. If Lieberman is offered a chairmanship in exchange for caucusing with the GOP and keeping a Republican majority in the Senate, I think there's a chance we can make a deal. This can be the first act of Lieberman Bipartisanship when he returns to the Senate as an Independent. Let's make it happen.
