Khameni Interpret's U.S. Vote as Iraninan Victory

Earlier in the week, we wondered about the signal sent around the world by the Democrats' election victory about America's resolve to fight Islamofacsism and about the perceptions of America by our enemies. Some may claim that it does not matter what other people think (though they also complain about how America is hated around the world). But in a war between Islamofascism and the West, perceptions are critical and the perception of weakness is literally deadly, since it invites aggression.

Again, I am certain that Democrats do mean to endanger America, but they must be mindful in their words and actions about the perception of strength or weakness that they send to both enemies and friends. To see why this matters, merely look at the lesson Iran's supreme leader draws from the election.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush's defeat in congressional elections a victory for Iran.

Bush has accused Iran of trying to make a nuclear bomb, being a state sponsor of terrorism and stoking sectarian conflict in Iraq, all charges Tehran denies.

"This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush's hawkish policies in the world," Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran's student news agency ISNA on Friday.

"Since Washington's hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation."

Ask yourself: is Iran now more or less likely to agree to dismantle its nuclear program peacefully? Combine this with Joe Biden's and the Democrats' petty opposition to John Bolton's nomination (good riddance to pathetic Weak Linc Chafee, whose loss makes Tuesday's results a little more palatable), which signals to the world a more docile U.S. presence in the fleckless U.N., and you can guarantee that Iran will become a nuclear power with no diplomatic or economic impediments. As a result, a conflagration far greater than Iraq is looming within the next 5 years as Iran seeks to follow its words with deeds as it will force Israel into another war of survival. Beyond that, it is now a certainty that either we will be at war with Iran ourselves within the next 10 years or we will have to appease Iran as it expands its Islamofascist tentacles throughout the region. The only way to avert this disastrous course is to confront Iran now, with firmness backed by a credible threat of force, and Democrats have won the responsbility for doing this.

Congress controls domestic policy, for the most part. In the modern era Presidents have been -- and should be allowed -- to dominate foreign policy, with oversight from the Congress. George Bush and Condi Rice and still the ones dealing with Iran.

Why are you taking your voting instructions from overseas? Why do you hate America?
