Democrat "Bipartisanship"

As I've said before, the Democrats' definition of "bipartisanship" is "our way or the highway":

As they prepare to take control of Congress this week and face up to campaign pledges to restore bipartisanship and openness, Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.

House Democrats intend to pass a raft of popular measures as part of their well-publicized plan for the first 100 hours. They include tightening ethics rules for lawmakers, raising the minimum wage, allowing more research on stem cells and cutting interest rates on student loans.

But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.
Now, why would Democrats want to prevent Republicans from offering alternative proposals on these bills? As we saw last year, Democrats made much weaker ethics reform proposals than Democrats... In fact, the proposals Democrats made wouldn't have changed anything. They wanted to ban gifts and junkets from lobbyists (which were already banned) but exempt non-profits. As the minority party, non-profits funded the majority of privately-funded trips taken by Democrats.

Now, for the minimum wage... Democrats know that Republicans will want to attach tax cuts to a minimum wage hike in order to offset the negative affect the minimum wage hike will have on small businesses. But, since President Bush says he would only sign a minimum wage hike coupled with tax increases, Democrats (who have already said they wouldn't add any other proposals to a minimum wage bill) are silly to cut Republicans out of the debate.

Let's face it, after 12 years in the minority, Democrats want to get back to destroying the country, and will do whatever they can to accomplish that goal. They will promise to be bipartisan and reach across the aisle to Republicans one day, then shut them out the next.

The Democrats' hypocrisy has no end.

It would be laughable if it weren't so dangerous. God help our great Nation when they take the reins. It will be interesting to see if their ethics commitees will investigate Conyers, Reid, Murtha, etc. Their crimes are much worse than e-mails to consenting men. Will "Leaky" Leahy decimate our "Terrorist Surveilence" program? I guess by Democrat standards, stuffing top secret documents in one's pants, ala Sandy Burglar trying to save Clinton's behind ,is acceptable, but listening in on an AlQueda operative is illegal. One last thought....Why is the Democrat party now referred to as the Democratic party? What is that nonsense? The "do as I say, not as I do, party, is anything but democratic!!!!
