In her remarks today on the House floor, Nancy Pelosi convened by saying, "For all of America's children, the House will be in order."
Let me tell the new Speaker something. She don't speak for me, she and her party do not represent the values of America's children, and she can't possibly claim that she or her party have or will ever act on their behalf. No, what Pelosi meant was "For all of America's Democrats, the House will be in order."
How dare she claim to be an advocate of children.

I have to say, this is the saddest political commentary i've read in a while. Any reason why don't believe she's genuine in her state mission to work for the children of America?
Or is it just because she's an evil democRAT from a city full of gays?

Gee Tom, can you name one thing they've done "for the children?"
Didn't think so.

Here are some child related legislation that Pelosi has voted for:
CHILDREN’S ISSUES AND CHILD CARE:
HR206—A bill to provide for greater access to child care services for Federal employees (Morella) [STATUS: enacted as part of the FY2000 Treasury-Postal Appropriations bill]
HR1112—Kiddie Mac—A bill to authorize the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to insure mortgages for the acquisition, construction, or substantial rehabilitation of child care and development facilities and to establish the Children’s Development Commission to certify such facilities for such insurance, and for other purposes. (Maloney/Baker) STATUS: Hearing held, October 8, 1999
(bipartisan portions of) HR1139, the ACCESS Act on Child Care Affordability (Tauscher)—A bill to expand the dependent care tax credit, to provide grants to business consortia, and to establish a new Model State’s Early Learning Fund to support programs to improve early learning and the quality and safety of child care for children ages 0-5. (Tauscher)
HR2486—Infant Crib Safety Act—A bill to provide for infant crib safety. (Tauscher/Greenwood)
HR___ (not yet introduced)—Give a Child a Chance Omnibus Mental Health Bill—A bill to place more mental health and student service personnel (school counselors, social workers, or psychologists, and a school nurse) in the schools. The bill also specifies which academic qualifications are necessary for such professionals to be hired. The mental health personnel in the schools would provide assessment for mental health disorders that may be exhibited by a student. For a student that might require more in-depth treatment for serious disorders, the mental health professional would refer those students to an outside professional, with the permission of a parent or guardian. (Jackson-Lee)
She's also going to cut interest rates on student loans as part of her first 100 hours agenda, which will help our children receive a higher education in the future.

that's all you got? Bills that bloat government beaurocracy, benefit government workers, and blindly toss more money into education?
Really pathetic.. If that's the best you can offer to demonstrate that the Democratic Party is the part for the children, then you are standing on nothing.

Oh great, now we know the democrats will pass a new mental health bill. Pelosi and the democrats are going to get all the children on prescription drugs so they will be more docile in school and easier to brainwash. That is something to look forward to. Thanks Tom

Tom,
Your fake outrage is truly touching. Could you be any more transparently partisan? I'd really like to see more hard-hitting, fact-based, thoughtfully strategic, intellectually rigorous commentary from you. I know you're up to it. This nonsense is, well...nonsense.

No, what Pelosi meant was that we, the entire United States, are her children. This is because she's a Democrat, and Democrats love running the country like a nanny state. Ahhh paternalism at its finest.
