Global Warming Alarmists Creating a Climate of Fear

Another day, another example of liberals trying to intimidate and censor scientists who disagree with them on "global warming." It's scandalous that these liberals would reject scientific inquiry and debate just so that they can blindly follow their climate change religion.

First up, a climatologist at Oregon State University who the governor wants to punish for being a "skeptic."

In the face of evidence agreed upon by hundreds of climate scientists, George Taylor holds firm. He does not believe human activities are the main cause of global climate change.

Taylor also holds a unique title: State Climatologist...

“Most of the climate changes we have seen up until now have been a result of natural variations,” Taylor asserts.

Taylor has held the title of "state climatologist" since 1991 when the legislature created a state climate office at OSU The university created the job title, not the state...

So the governor wants to take that title from Taylor and make it a position that he would appoint.

If this was the Bush administration, the MSM would denounce the political retribution against a scientist whose conclusions vary with the executive. But since this is a Democratic governor and the issue is "global warming," those rules do not apply: censor away.

Next up, liberal attempts to silence contrarian scientists (Copernicus and Galileo would surely sympathize) include invasions of privacy.

California's attorney general last year asked a federal judge to force automakers to disclose their dealings with climate change skeptics, including Legates, in a dispute over greenhouse gas limits for new cars. General Motors, DaimlerChrysler and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers are defendants in that suit.
Naturally, the privacy rights that liberals love to defend, such as for a minor to be transported across state lines to have an abortion by an adult who is neither the parent nor the legal guardian, do not apply here.

We've already written about the 2 contemptuous U.S. Senators who brazenly blackmailed a company into withdrawing its support of climate research that does not conform with the unscientific conventional wisdom. And recall Al Gore's refusal to debate Bjorn Lomborg on the issue.

What does it tell you when advocates of a certain political position (1) attempt to silence their critics with threats and intimidation; (2) refuse to debate their critics on the scientific merits of the issue and (3) exact retribution on their critics? It tells me that those advocates are very insecure in their beliefs and lack confidence in the science of this issue.
