Give Scooter the Clinton/Berger Punishment
by Jonathan R. at 12:37 PM

Valerie Plame was not a covert agent covered by any law. Richard Armitage told reporters that she sent her husband, Joe Wilson, on a trip to Niger. Although he thinks he debunked the claim about Iraq trying to purchase uranium, the CIA thought his report actually bolstered the claim and the British government stands by its intelligence. Wilson also lied about the nepotism involved. Nevertheless, Lewis Libby was convicted for perjury and obstruction about no underlying crime.

Bill Clinton also committed perjury. I don't seem to recall him going on trial, much less being convicted, though he was disbarred. Then there's Sandy Berger, who stole classified documents from the National Archives on multiple ocassions and destroyed them before the 9/11 Commission could get its hands on them. There was no prison time for him either. I suggest that Libby receive the same punishment as Clinton for perjury and Berger for stealing national security secrets. Having a different memory about whom you spoke to about what and when than some reporters is no worse crime than Clinton or Berger committed.

Totally insane. Libby's crime: Faulty Memory!
Berger's crime: Stealing classified documents from the National Archive!!!!
Not to worry fellow Americans: If the Court of Appeal doesn't overturn, our dear President will pardon. And dirty Harry Reid, the oh so corrupt one, has the nerve to tell President Bush to pledge not to pardon.
Remember late 2000, when Clinton pardoned the convicted fugitive, Mark Rich, whose wife was a close friend, and major contributor to Clinton? Where was the outcry from the Democrats then? Typical hypocrisy. But, don't fear, Scooter will never serve a day in prison. Fitzgerald should be ashamed for ruining a good man's life.

Jonathan, Clinton was tried for perjury. The House impeached (the indictment) him and the Senate tries the case. He was acquitted on the charges...

This is absurd!! The jury says they feel bad and they think Libby is the "Fall guy" for the Bush administration well he is the "Fall guy" but only because of their biased, hateful & begrudging views of this wonderful administration! The jury made Libby the "Fall guy" and that is a crying shame. This country is going to hell in a hand basket and quick! Bill Clinton (sexual pervert) committed perjury and got no exposure and hardly any penalty! Sandy Burglar 'stole' and deliberately 'destroyed' classified documents and what does he get, in a word: NOTHING! Money means nothing to him. And then, there's Jefferson who got caught blatently with hundreds of thousands of dollars stuffed in his freezer and what does he get? NOTHING! The Dems are the ruination of our America and the entire judicial system within and if us Republicans don't stand up and start to push these criminals into the depths of hell then it's our own fault. How long has it been since we've even heard the names of Berger and Jefferson? What is wrong with the Republican Party? Are we just silent idiots letting the libs do whatever they want to us and because we don't think it "looks proper" we just keep getting punched in the face in front of all of America's public media?? We look like a bunch of spineless idiots. And then we 'bash' Ann Coulter because she, at least, comes out and speaks it "like it is!" Yes, I say faggot, faggot, faggot. Call it as you see it. Years ago gay meant happy and celebritory and a queer was just that, a queer. We've gotten so scared that we have allowed this stupid politically correct atmosphere to dominate and intimidate our every move. STAND UP FOR MORALS. God created man and woman because they physically are made to fit together so that they can create life if they choose. He did not create men so that they could carry on their immoral, sexual, dog style actions and infect others with their contagious diseases and then expect to have the right to publicly bloviate about it and tell everyone in the world that what they screw!

Whether Libby deserves to serve time is a decision that will be taken care of in the next few weeks (I expect a pardon). The general consensus is that this trial was about the larger intelligence handling in the White House, regardless of who the fall guy ended up being. But no matter how much you hate Clinton, one *must* admit that Clinton's lies about an embarrassing sexual relationship is nowhere nearly as important as someone fiddling with intelligence to build up public support for a war. The crime might be the same (perjury) but one must look at the net result of each person's actions and conclude that Clinton's was self-destructive behavior that really only involved Ms. Lewinsky and Clinton's family whereas the intelligence fiddling is head and shoulders above that on any scale.

One of the biggest absurdities of the entire mess is that this case was not about intelligence leading up to the war. There was nothing, zero, zip, nada about intelligence handling. The case was about obstruction of justice and perjury. That the jurors inserted intelligence handling into their thought process is a clear indication of a wrongful convistion.

Also... The liberal argument that Clinton's actual lie was "just about sex," so it shouldn't matter, is instructive...

Nowhere else can you get a better understanding of misguided liberal principles: When you stand before God and family and pledge to honor another, it is perhaps the most solemn vow one can take. How then, are we to trust one who breaks such a vow with situations that don't command the same level of seriousness? If you'll lie about "just sex" what else might you lie about?

I think it gets overturned on appeal, and if not, a pardon by the President before he leaves office.

And by the way I'm in love with Jazzergal...
