The pork included in the bill that pays for operations in Afghanistan and Iraq is mindboggling.
In the House, lawmakers are considering the Democrats' $124 billion war funding bill that not only includes $21 billion for political pet projects, but also establishes an ill-advised Aug. 31, 2008, deadline for bringing the troops home from Iraq. What do these things have to do with fighting a war? Nothing. They have everything to do with buying "yea" votes (wasn't it John Kerry who complained about a coalition of the bribed and bought?) and has nothing to do with fighting a war.The legislation, swollen with $3.7 billion in farm subsidies, is expected to be voted on Thursday. It also includes $500 million for wildfire suppression, $283 million in milk subsidies, $100 million for citrus growers, $75 million for peanut storage, $25 million for spinach growers and $15 million for rice farmers.
I wonder if Jimmuh Carter had anything to do with this. Stuck on stupid.

This amounts to nothing less than bribery. Anyone who would sell their vote for pork over the welfare of the troops has no soul.

It only reflects on how fractured the Democrats and the pressure they are under from selling their souls to the anti-war people.
hmm selling theri sould.. that makes the anti-war group come across as evil.....
Seems about right

Pandering is what they do and they do it well. If they're not pandering (see Hillary in Selma) then they are blocking, holding up, or otherwise attempting to thwart any plans to help our country succeed.
The fact that these appropriations exist at all is a disgrace, much less that these morons tie them to a war funding bill.

I'mRight, What do you think Republicans did when they were in power? The exact same things.
I would rather see bills introduced on one subject, but Congress has not worked that way for a very long time.

The headline should be 'Democrats Sell Out American Troops in Time of War.'
Selling a vote on an issue of vital national security such as this is, I believe, screams "Recall!"

Where are all of you guys coming from?!? After 7 yrs of record breaking earmarks and pork barrel spending under GOP rule the Dems had to put a 1 yr. moratorium on ear marks. It was Gingrich and Tom DeLay who were the real culprits of pork barreling. By God they defined it. Sliding things in at the last minute, before anyone knew. They thought they were so slick. Read and learn sheeple!! At least us Dems are right up front with nothing weaseled in or slipped by. Oh yeah, this pork stuff is the remains of the crap the GOP left for the Dems to clean up. Fry that up and chew it awhile!
