WHERE IS RON PAUL????

Posted by: Warren at April 30, 2007 01:36 AM

Where is Ron Paul? If you're going to include people that aren't even running, why not include all that have actually announced. Sorry, but I won't vote until Paul is on your poll.

Posted by: Dave at April 30, 2007 10:08 AM

After the last poll I emailed you and asked why Ron Paul was not included in the poll. You didn't answer. He would be my #1 choice, but you are still by-passing him in this poll! I wonder why!

Agree with previous commenters. I'd like to see Ron Paul and Chuck Hagel included in this survey. I have posted a link to this survey for months on my blog. I am going to remove it this week if Ron Paul is not included.

Once again, my first choice (Ron Paul)has been left off. Tancredo is a good second choice.

Posted by: P Campbell at April 30, 2007 12:01 PM

Why would you put George Pataki in this poll but not Ron Paul?

Posted by: Chip at April 30, 2007 01:36 PM

Ron Paul. Oh pulleeze. Look, unless all the conserv-libertarians unite, the GOP is in for a real drubbing in '08. It seems that few posters really ever work in precinct-Party politics and have no idea that it takes a winner to set policy and agendas. There are some GOPers who have a chance. The Dems are outdrawing big monies from business et al and it is actually killing GOP donations. The BASE is not supporting the GOP but the Left is rolling along with its bile to support the DEMS and destroy any GOP chance because some wacky purist conservs are supporting Ron Paul???!!! For pete's sake, doesn't anyone understand what it takes to win? We either get Fred Thompson, Rudy G, or Mitt to take the top of the ticket, get some solid conserv candidates for the House and Senate( because Dems have recruited good lefties for those races)or we will get killed in '08. But no 2nd tier or 3rd tier candidate is going to win the GOP nomination unless we want to lose 50 states. Ron Paul? For heaven's sakes, are you people nuts?

Posted by: Glenn Koons at April 30, 2007 01:43 PM

I agree with previous comments on Ron Paul. He certainly is acceptable to this voter.

Posted by: DaveH at April 30, 2007 03:01 PM

At least Ron Paul would do something about the illegal immigration problem. None of the Top 3 (McCain, Giuliani, Romney) will. McCain has already teamed with T. Kennedy for amnesty, Giuliani pushed legislation while mayor of NYC to make free government services more accessible to illegals, and Romney is likely backed by many of the same corporation and business interests who want to continue this flow of cheap, illegal labor.

Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, and Tom Tancredo are the only candidates who have given any real impression that they will actually do something about the border problem.

As for my, Hunter is my first choice.

The one whose really "nuts" is a person concerned more about party than principles. With an attitude like that, we'll never get out of this vicious cycle of choosing candidates who will continue to serve their interests rather than our interests.

You would do best Mr. Koons, to use your knowledge to help educate the public in how to elect the best man for the job rather than the one with more face time. The reason Ron Paul has supporters on both sides of the aisle is because they are independent thinkers who realize that our country is more important than party affiliation.

The media has already decided for us who "we" should vote for. Stop being sheep and vote for people who have intelligence and integrity. That's why I'm voting for Ron Paul. He wants to restore the constitution and our liberties which are slowly being stripped away from us. Imagine being called "whacky" for wanting that? And in the name of fair play, I DEMAND that Ron Paul be included in this poll!

Posted by: Jackie at April 30, 2007 05:44 PM

Hey Glenn... by your theory, then McCain must be included with your "big 3" at the top of the ticket. He'd certainly beat Hillary or Obama.

That said... I also will ask, Where's Ron Paul? Sorry for being a "purist" conservative. I wish GWB was...

p.s. Romney has no shot in the general election.

Posted by: Glenn Koons at April 30, 2007 01:43 PM

AMEN, Glenn!

You Ron Paul kooks ever hear of a guy named Ralph Nader? Ross Perot? (Not that Ron Paul would even garner Ross Perot's share of the vote!) Or is that what this is all about in the end--splitting the GOP vote? If so, dream on!

Grow up and join the real world, kiddies. The Libertardian Party is for stoned college kids, and when they actually experience Real Life, they usually grow out of ridiculous idealism, or end up getting stupider (as in, voting for Democrats). You guys sound EXACTLY like the mouth-breathing 9/11 "truthers." I guess you don't even know what a joke you all are to the rest of the country (that is, the relative few who have even heard of Ron Paul)!

Posted by: Beth at April 30, 2007 09:50 PM

Oh, and by the way...this is the GOP Bloggers poll. Note that there aren't any Democrats in the list, either. Ron Paul isn't a Republican, regardless of what party he chooses to claim (obviously even he understands the futility of Libertardian Party politics!).

Ken A.: "Sorry for being a "purist" conservative." NO. A purist conservative would not be for Dr. Paul. A purist Libertardian would, and make no mistake, there is a BIG difference in the end (regardless of similarities on certain issues).

Posted by: Beth at April 30, 2007 09:54 PM

Where is RON PAUL... are you guys so busy "Pundit-ing" that you don't have time to read the fricking internet! My first choice is Ron Paul, so what you are asking me really is who will I settle for or at best who is my second choice...

Once again you have left out THE ONLY acceptable candidate, Ron Paul.
The neacons who presently control the Republican Party are traitors. They have torn the Constitution the shreds in the name of "protecting " the people from terrorism. In the process it is the neocons themselves who are now the greatest threat to the freedom of the American people.
If Ron Paul does not become the next President there is simply no hope of the US remaining a free nation. We will be a fascist dictatorship.
Ron Paul is the only acceptable candidate of either party.

Posted by: Michael Wagner at May 1, 2007 09:08 AM

In the last several straw polls, Duncan Hunter's name has been excluded in the list for viewing results sorted by candidate's backers. Please include him, and thank you.

Also, I agree with others that Ron Paul needs to be included. Surely if Pataki can be on this list, a real conservative can.

Posted by: Freelancer at May 1, 2007 02:07 PM

Republicans 6 years ago let the political elite control are party nominee with winning being the only criteria. President Bush lost the popular vote the first time and would have lost the electoral vote the second time if Ohio had gone to the other way. Six years later we have lost the congress and all are principles. Border security is a joke, we created the biggest entitlement since LBJ's time in office, we decided to try nation building after correctly criticizing President Clinton for trying in Serbia, spending rose much faster than under Clinton, and China, nation whose leaders are as bad as Hussein is sole source of an even greater amount of our everday needs. Let us get back to Republican principles and please do not exclude the one candidate who stands up for them more than anyone else Ron Paul.

Posted by: Nick at May 1, 2007 02:26 PM

The reason the GOP got drubbed and might get drubbed again is because most of the GOP candidate's views don't line up with the party platform. Ron Paul does. Unless the GOP puts forth someone who truly believes in GOP ideas, republicans won't vote, cause who wants to vote for the lesser of two evils. VOTE RON PAUL! Put him forward and watch the GOP regain power!

Ron Paul is NOT a Republican, he is a Libertarian. That is reason enough to leave him out of the poll.
Chuck Hagel is an embarrassment to the Republican Party. He is a RINO pure and simple. He now has stated he is thinking of running as an Independant. I say good riddance.
Why not explore the field of names and find out their abilities, their records and what their feelings are on the major issues. You may be surprised at what you find.

I cant stand the democratic candidates either and I like Ron Paul because he is a "small government" guy. It seems that most candidates are political puppets with special interest first and foremost and I thought Ron was a breath of fresh air. Why is he not on the poll?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury ... I submit for your consideration, clear evidence of how the Republicans are going to screw up the 2008 presidential election just like they did the 2006 midterms. EXHIBIT A - The comment directly above this one, spewed all over this fine blog by one "RIGHTWINGDOG." Please consider this comment carefully and understand that this is a fair representation of the on-line right wing vocal minority of the Repuplican Party. keep in mind that Hagel and Paul are BOTH MORE CONSERVATIVE IN THE REAGAN/GOLDWATER TRADITION THAN ANYONE IN THIS ADMINSTRATION OR ANY DECLARED REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. You can only conclude, beyond any reasonable doubt, that the Republcian party is doomed for a generation.

We rest our case.

He's a member of the GOP. He debated in the GOP Debate. He will be in the Primaries.

You're all pulling the "Real Scottman" argument out - and it stinks.

Enjoy your fantasy world.

Where is Ron Paul as a choice? Why are allowing yourself to be used as a pawn of some special interest? Why not be a voice for the people of this once great nation, instead on doing such evil things as snuffing out democracy and slowly bringing this country to it's knees? If you take the morale from the people we won't protect you any longer, china, russia or God knows who may come and we may not care anymore.

Posted by: Jeremy [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 12, 2007 02:19 PM

If you GOPers would wake up you would see that Ron Paul is the only hope your party (and our country) has. He is not some 3rd party goon with out experience. He IS a Republican congressman WITH OVER 20 YEARS IN PUBLIC SERVICE>>>>>> how can you disrespect his service to this country and kiss up to "Giuliani come lately" who's record looks like Clinton's except for the fact that he was incharge when his city was attacked? Ron is no Ross Perot and not some scumbag business criminal like those who seem to control the GOP ranks today lining their pockets with oil money while we pay $3.50 a gallon and more for everything else while taxing us to death.
Ron Paul is the only one who really is a conservitive and has the record to prove it.
He also has money to stay in this race so get use to his name. He is giving the real traditional principals of the Republican party a chance and wants to save it. You should give him a chance and fight for him to be on this poll. As far as I am concerned any web site that is not listing everyone who is actualy in the race and will be in the primary is a fraud.

Unless you have Rep. Ron Paul up so I can vote for him, then this poll means nothing.

Posted by: William at May 30, 2007 10:45 AM

Wow Beth, you obviously have no idea what the ideals of the republican party are. Most people posting here don't seem to know either. It amazes me that people don't choose a candidate by what they stand for, but by how popular they are, no wonder this country is in such deep shit. Shame on this pathetic website for not including people that are actually running, but yet you include people that aren't. Ron Paul is the ONLY choice for this country. If he doesn't get in, it will be more of the same, more slave tax, more fiat money, more illegal immigration, more wars that we are forced to pay for (and our children) even though we don't want them, more nation building, more regime changes, the North American Union will be implemented and we will become a 3rd world nation just like Mexico... Are you people NUTS? Ron Paul or Revolution!
