Oh, boy: Senator Obama wants to curb lobbyist influence:

Today, powerful special interests run Washington. The Republican Party's infamous "K Street Project" put lobbyists at the center of policymaking and political fundraising. The drug and insurance industries alone have spent more than $1 billion on lobbying and campaign contributions in the last 10 years. And, for the most part, they have achieved the results they wanted. It's no wonder that, last November, Americans cast a strong vote for change.

Yeah, Senator, they sure voted for change - too bad they're not going to get it from your party. I know you like the drug and insurance company bit...after all, your side has painted them as evil, and by putting them in there as your example, you make it seem as though the drug and insurance companies have bought the GOP and run our policy, with only heroic Democrats, like you, in DC to defend the people against their depradations. But doesn't you side have some problems, too?

After all, according to Open Secrets, the Democrats have scooped up about $500,000,000.00 in donations from just the legal industry in the past ten years, including more than $100,000,000.00 just for the 2006 cycle, when your side was campaigning against malign influences on politics. And what about the $110,000,000.00 your side has gotten from the entertainment industry? Let me clue you in, Senator, when the American people think "honesty" and "integrity", the word "Hollywood" just doesn't come to mind. And what of those nefarious lobbyists? Well, they did donate $57,600,000.00 to Republicans since 1990...but the donated $60,300,000.00 to Democrats in that period of time. And while the GOP became the majority in 1994, it was only in 2002 that lobbyists started to give more money to Republicans than to Democrats.

Face it, Senator, you're a hypocrit member of a party of hypocrits. You in the Democratic leadership couldn't find ethics in a dictionary. You, Senator, are the reason Matt and I wrote Caucus of Corruption...you and scores more Democrats like you. Corrupt and living off the fat of America, it is high time you are called to account,

And for you next op-ed, how about telling us of your long-time friend and donor, Tony Rezko?
