Following Tom DeLay's indictment, then-DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel pressured congressional Republicans to return any DeLay-contributions they received.
Will Democrats (remember, the open, honest and ethical party) return the cash they received from the now indicted Willliam Jefferson? MajorityAP.com reports that Jefferson gave thousands of dollars to Democrats and based on the standard they set after DeLay's indictment, it's time for them to give up their dirty money.
Jefferson donated nearly $140,000 to the Democrats’ campaign committee. Jefferson also gave thousands to Democrat House members and candidates, including freshmen Nick Lampson, D-TX, Heath Shuler, D-NC, and Ciro Rodriguez, D-TX.Every last dime needs to be returned or donated to charity. Since Rahm Emanuel, a leader in the Democratic Party, refused to get rid of money from convicted felons that was donated to the DCCC while he was chairman, I wouldn't hold your breath for Democrats to start parting with the dirty money they received from William Jefferson.Lampson and Shuler received contributions from Jefferson’s re-election committee, while Rodriguez received $1,000 from Jefferson’s political action committee, the Future PAC.
Only Lampson is reported to have returned Jefferson’s contribution.
Other Democrats who received financial support from Jefferson are: Sanford Bishop, $1000; Corrine Brown, $2000; Lois Capps, $500; Julia Carson, $1000; Donna Christensen, $1000; Emanuel Cleaver, $2000; Chet Edwards, $1000; Al Green, $2000; Alcee Hastings, $1000; Barbara Lee, $1000; John Lewis, $500; Carolyn McCarthy, $1000; Charlie Melancon, $2000; Gwendolynne Moore, $1000; Brad Sherman, $1000; and Mel Watt, $1000.Jefferson also contributed a total of $5,680 to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) PAC.Jefferson’s Future PAC gave $1,000 each to Democrat Representatives Corrine Brown, Julia Carson, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Carloyn McCarthy, Kendrick Meek, Mike Ross, and Linda Sanchez.
I'm sure they will return any money as an empty jesture. But there is no reason that Jefferson was not held to the same standards that Delay was held too. Jefferson was re-elected while Delay not only dropped out, but the dems violated the Constitution by not allowing his replacement to be on the ballot.
Speaking of Delay, why have we seen no more press coverage of his trial?

Jefferson faces a sentence of over 200 years if convicted, and deservedly so. Libby faces 30 months for a non-crime. Sandy Burglar should be in a federal prison for stealing secret documents, which, by the way, would have probably shown how Bill Clinton mismanaged his so called "war on terror". Murtha committed a definite "jail-time" crime when he said he would probably take a bribe in the future, which was caught on tape. Dianne Feinstein was recently kicked off a committe for sending her husband all the contracts for construction jobs. I could go on and on. But as long as you have a leftist media, who bury stories, such as the JFK terror plot, the public will never get the true picture, which is: The Democrats have more crooks than the Republicans. Sure, power corrupts, but you just have to look at CNN's 2 debates over the past 2 nights to see the huge difference between the 2 parties. The Democrat one showed a bunch of whining, blame America first types, and the Republican one showed real leaders who want to get things done for the good of our great nation. If I were a Democrat, and saw how George Souros, of the anti-American move on group has pulled the strings of Edwards, Clinton, and Obama, I would step back and decide if I wanted leaders who didn't have any principles or real beliefs, and only acted on polls, and the wishes of people, such as move-on, Daily Kos, MyDd, Huffington post, and others, who truly hate our great country, and wish it failure. Even if they are motivated by their dislike of our President, I would hope they only wanted the best for America. Please wake up and don't turn our country over to a bunch of marxists, who praise such murdering dictators like Castro and Chavez,and undermine President Bush in anything he does. We can't afford another Carter fiasco, because literally our lives depend on it!!!!
